Get God’s Way Of Design! Intelligent Design! The “light” of your entire body is your eyes (Lk. 11:34).

In the beginning God created everything beautiful. He saw, “It was good” (Gen. 1). His artistry visually demonstrates His character, and is legible (Rom. 1:20). We learn about God by His message in creation. Our quest for this beauty is genuinely a quest for His “beauty of holiness.” It’s an innate, divine impulse that is activated the moment we opened our eyes, on the day of our first birth, and every morning since. Quenching this thirst for God and beauty comes by discovering the Truth about beauty’s secrets of order from chaos, resolve from tension, and unity from diversity. By your born-again relationship with our Father, greater enlightenment and acquisition of Godliness, along with skillful creativity happens by grace. Receive the power that He’s providing! We learn to work with the visual elements and principles of design just as God does. Hence—totally awesome beautiful communications happen. His artistry is literally a language spelled out in color, texture, shape, form, and line. According to Psalm 19:3, there is no place on earth where the evidence of Him is not seen and heard. This beauty resonates His character, and His life principles. Harmony, balance, cohesiveness, dissonance, resolve, movement, intensity, repose and every other conceivable principle of composition are inherent in creation. Echoing through us are reverberating traces of our godly origins in Him. Along side of these traces of God-likeness, co-exist distorted perceptions resulting from Adam’s fall. Sin entered a perfect world and polluted our perception. We filter creation through the dark glasses of original sin (1 Cor. 13:12). Get rid of these glasses (the sin, by the work of the cross, by our new birth, and a growing relationship with Jesus), and we’ll see our world anew through the lens of faith. The scales fall.

Be a Moses not just one of the regular guys in the crowd who judge after their natural sight. All of them died in the wilderness. The children of Israel (the regular guys) knew God from a safe distance, yet Moses knew Him face to face (Ex. 33:11). The general populous in the wilderness saw the acts of God and were freaked-out (flaming Mt. Sinai). Moses, on the other hand, intimately knew God’s ways, His manner of thinking (Ps. 103:7). He knew God’s M.O. (mode of operation).

May the Almighty open our eyes during this discovery adventure to the realms of His character so displayed in the galleries of nature and mankind! And may we grow closer to Him in our journey and practice of creating digital media for His glory. And everybody said….. Amen!

 Curriculum – God & Graphics (Godandgraphics.com chapters 10-16)

 AIM
 We’ll continue with the GOD & GRAPHICS online curriculum beginning with Chapter 10, where we’ll explore the ”Principles of Design“ which apply to all creative disciples and the formation of Christ-likeness in the human heart.

 This course allows students to select graphic or video challenges for most chapters.

 We’ll engage in real world, practical projects aiming to positively affect our immediate world for the kingdom of God. We will employ the curriculum parameters below while not being limited to them.

 God has a unique plan for each of our lives that requires His unique plan of education. Therefore, we instinctively resist “cookie-cutter” education and training. Is there an example in Scripture of two people who God trained exactly the same way. Even the twelve disciples were loved, trained and regarded as individual members of the collective fellowship.

TECHNIQUES
 Computer software (Photoshop, Mac software)

 Lecture, Discussion, Group Critique and Projects
 Experimental mixed media (computer graphics combined with traditional media)

 Interdisciplinary activities (language, business attitudes and relationships, fine art conventions, history)

3. Biblical message communication
 We will display Truth in the universal language of visual elements (line, shape, form, texture, color, mass), and the principles of composition germane to every creative discipline (balance, cohesion, tension, rhythm, contrast, weight, volume, resolve, movement, etc.)

 We will target specific audiences and articulate the spiritual message according to the needs of our audience. As the Apostle Paul said, “I am made all things to all people” (1Cor. 9:22).

4. Projects
 The projects below represent a few essential needs within our Christian community. We can do them knowing our good works make a difference. Here’s the real deal: Those who embody the servant-spirit of Christ are the greatest in the kingdom of God. Praise God for affording us these great opportunities.
Students will also define their own assignments based on personal interests, giftedness and passion.

 GRADING
 Class Participation 20% of your grade
 Projects 20% of your grade
 Portfolio 20% of your grade
 Assignments 20% of your grade
 Portfolio 20% of your grade
 TOTAL 100%

 Every aspect of your grade is weighted equally. This means that you must be up-to-date in every category to earn your highest grade and achieve your full potential. In other words, there is not one category that can increases your grade average. This principle rings true in our Christian walk—the smallest good behaviors earn the greatest rewards (Lk. 16:10). They are cumulative. Our aim is to develop life-style habits to prosper us in a personal relationship with the Lord. Likewise—little inconsistencies may cause major problems. All King David did was look at Bathsheba and then..... You know the rest of the story.

 Remember the 5 virgins? They were not allowed into the party - too late to shop for lamp oil. They didn’t keep pace with grace. Great life lesson! Therefore, late assignments earn 0’s, whether an hour late or a day late. However, the assignments must be completed and turn in. A grade value of 1% will appear online the moment the assignment is turned in. Now the good news! Grace triumphs because students are encouraged to design their own projects and execute them for a grade that replaces the 1% for the late project. This system works to every student’s advantage.

 SUPPLY ESSENTIALS
 A thumb-drive (at least 16 gig)
 An affordable digital camera
 A three-ring binder as a temporary portfolio to hold your images, handouts and class notes
 About $15-30 dollars (payable with credit to MyPublisher.com) for the publication of your bound portfolio. This happens near the end of the last trimester.

Please read the rules if you need to. They are important. However, I’ve discovered that you already know what you are supposed to do in pursuit of your “A” grade. The whole truth is simply this:

LOVE God, LOVE Truth, LOVE People,
in other words be genuinely ENGAGED!

 GUIDANCE/RULES
Ocs student handbook, the 10 commandments, and Jesus’ exposition on them (Ex. 20, and Mat. 5 in fine print).

Exo 20:1 And God spake all these words, saying, Exo 20:2 I am Jehovah thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the hose of bondage. Exo 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Exo 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee a graven image, nor any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Exo 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them, for I Jehovah thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, upon the third and upon the fourth generation of them that hate me, Exo 20:6 and showing lovingkindness unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments. Exo 20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of Jehovah thy God in vain; for Jehovah will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. Exo 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Exo 20:9 Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work; Exo 20:10 but the seventh day is a sabbath unto Jehovah thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy man-servant, nor thy maid-servant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: Exo 20:11 for in six days Jehovah made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore Jehovah blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. Exo 20:12 Honor thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be long in the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee. Exo 20:13 Thou shalt not kill. Exo 20:14 Thou shalt not commit adultery. Exo 20:15 Thou shalt not steal. Exo 20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. Exo 20:17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his man-servant, nor his maid-servant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is thy neighbor's. Exo 20:18 And all the people perceived the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the voice of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they trembled, and stood afar off. Exo 20:19 And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die. Exo 20:20 And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before you, that ye sin not. Exo 20:21 And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was. Exo 20:22 And Jehovah said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye yourselves have seen that I have talked with you from heaven. Exo 20:23 Ye shall not make other gods with me; gods of silver, or gods of gold, ye shall not make unto you. Exo 20:24 An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt-offerings, and thy peace-offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in every place where I record my name I will come unto thee and I will bless thee. Exo 20:25 And if thou make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stones; for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it. Exo 20:26 Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not uncovered thereon. Mat 5:1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into the mountain: and when he had sat down, his disciples came unto him: Mat 5:2 and he opened his mouth and taught them, saying, Mat 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Mat 5:4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.Mat 5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Mat 5:6 Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Mat 5:7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Mat 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Mat 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called sons of God. Mat 5:10 Blessed are they that have been persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Mat 5:11 Blessed are ye when men shall reproach you, and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Mat 5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets that were before you. Mat 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost its savor, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under foot of men. Mat 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Mat 5:15 Neither do men light a lamp, and put it under the bushel, but on the stand; and it shineth unto all that are in the house. Mat 5:16 Even so let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. Mat 5:17 Think not that I came to destroy the law or the prophets: I came not to destroy, but to fulfil. Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass away from the law, till all things be accomplished. Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Mat 5:20 For I say unto you, that except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven. Mat 5:21 Ye have heard that it was said to them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: Mat 5:22 but I say unto you, that every one who is angry with his brother shall be in danger of the judgment; and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council; and whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of the hell of fire. Mat 5:23 If therefore thou art offering thy gift at the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath aught against thee, Mat 5:24 leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way, first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. Mat 5:25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, while thou art with him in the way; lest haply the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison. Mat 5:26 Verily I say unto thee, thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou have paid the last farthing. Mat 5:27 Ye have heard that it was said, Thou shalt not commit adultery: Mat 5:28 but I say unto you, that every one that looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. Mat 5:29 And if thy right eye causeth thee to stumble, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not thy whole body be cast into hell. Mat 5:30 And if thy right hand causeth thee to stumble, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not thy whole body go into hell. Mat 5:31 It was said also, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: Mat 5:32 but I say unto you, that every one that putteth away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, maketh her an adulteress: and whosoever shall marry her when she is put away committeth adultery. Mat 5:33 Again, ye have heard that it was said to them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: Mat 5:34 but I say unto you, swear not at all; neither by the heaven, for it is the throne of God; Mat 5:35 nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. Mat 5:36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, for thou canst not make one hair white or black. Mat 5:37 But let your speech be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: and whatsoever is more than these is of the evil one. Mat 5:38 Ye have heard that it was said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: Mat 5:39 but I say unto you, resist not him that is evil: but whosoever smiteth thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. Mat 5:40 And if any man would go to law with thee, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also. Mat 5:41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go one mile, go with him two. Mat 5:42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. Mat 5:43 Ye have heard that it was said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy: Mat 5:44 but I say unto you, love your enemies, and pray for them that persecute you; Mat 5:45 that ye may be sons of your Father who is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sendeth rain on the just and the unjust. Mat 5:46 For if ye love them that love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? Mat 5:47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the Gentiles the same?

ONE LAME RULE “BE GOOD”!

Always be guided by your pure conscience and the Word of God. You know right from wrong—the choice is yours, minute by minute. Every choice results in a consequence. The rule, “BE GOOD” covers every thought, attitude, word, and action. This rule even penetrates our motives. God sees all and is all merciful, ready to equip you with abundant power (grace) to fulfill this all-encompassing rule. Get this… Jesus said, “You therefore shall BE PERFECT, as your heavenly Father is perfect” (Mat. 5:48). This is more than a rule; it’s a guaranteed promise of Jesus. Amen! He said, “You…shall be perfect.” It’s yours for the yielding. Let’s at least BE GOOD (bare minimum) while aiming for perfection. Psalm 138:8 promises; the Lord will perfect that which concerns us. Let’s enjoy the adventure of this purposeful journey.

 YOUR COMMITMENTS

1) I will listen the first time instruction is given.
Isaiah 65:12 says, “I will destine you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter; because when I called, ye did not answer; when I spoke, ye did not hear; but ye did that which was evil in mine eyes, and chose that wherein I did not delight.” Listening or not listening becomes an ingrained habit that affects your destiny.

2) I will be where I belong at all times.
This is a matter of punctuality and safety. (Remember the 5 foolish virgins…too late.)

3) I will demonstrate the highest standards of Christian love, character, and morality.
1 Timothy 4:12 (LB) encourages, “Don’t let anyone think little of you because you are young. Be their ideal; let them follow the way you teach and live; be a pattern for them in your love, your faith, and your clean thoughts.”
 Respect yourself
 Respect others and their property
 No inappropriate inferences in words or deeds

4) I will discourage ungodly behavior of others and become part of the solution.
Matthew 18 tells us to admonish a floundering Christian whom we’ve seen engaging in ungodly conversation or behavior. If he responds with repentance, Great! If he doesn’t, then two or more witnesses should address the issue with him. (Keep the matter private.) If he still refuses, confidentially bring the matter to authorities. Leviticus 5:1 plainly states that “If a person sins because he does not speak up when he hears a public charge to testify regarding something he has seen or learned about, he will be held responsible.” Ouch! It’s been said that the cruelest thing a person can do is to withhold Christian rebuke. Love enough to truly help your friends.
